Join Us in Shaping a Healthier, Happier Tomorrow for Everyone!
Be the Change for a Brighter Future In a world where mental health often takes a backseat, we invite you, the bright minds of MidKent College, to lead the way towards a future where mental wellness is prioritized. We’re excited to announce our joint collaboration between Rewrite Your Story Therapy Partners and MidKent College for our Ambassadors project, funded by the KCC Kent & Medway Suicide Prevention Programme. Will you answer the call?
Focusing on Neurodiversity
This initiative aims to embed a holistic, early intervention-based approach to address the alarming increases in mental health difficulties and suicidal ideation amongst young people, with a special focus on neurodiverse students. By recognising and embracing neurodiversity, we aim to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.
What’s Involved?
- Communications Strategy: Develop and implement a strategy to guide young people towards validated, evidence-based support.
- Short Film Creation: Produce and upload a film on YouTube, focusing on challenges like suicidal ideation, disordered eating, and depression, and how to overcome them.
- Youth Ambassador Training: Equip our ambassadors with the tools they need to be effective mental health advocates, with a particular emphasis on supporting neurodiverse peers.
Why Become an Ambassador?
As an Ambassador, you will be at the forefront of a vital movement, working to:
- Demystify Mental Health: Break down barriers and challenge the stigma associated with mental health, especially for neurodiverse individuals.
- Empower Your Peers: Share knowledge and strategies on how to seek and offer help, with a focus on the unique needs of neurodiverse students.
- Create and Share: Use your creativity to produce engaging content and short videos that resonate with young minds across social media.
- Learn and Grow: Participate in regular discussions with a qualified facilitator to explore and understand mental health issues more deeply, with an emphasis on neurodiversity.
What’s in Store for Ambassadors?
- Training & Support: A comprehensive training program designed to arm you with the knowledge and skills needed to become a confident mental health advocate.
- Regular Meetups: Engage in enriching sessions to discuss, learn, and develop plans to tackle mental health issues with your peers.
- Creative Freedom: Take the reins of an online communications strategy, shaping the narrative and spreading awareness in a way that only your generation knows how.
- Community Impact: Make a tangible difference within your college and local community groups, testing the impact of your initiatives and setting the stage for a wider rollout.
